Dive Sites
We have a total of 23 named dive sites in a three mile area between Man O’War channel and Big Bight channel. The others are from west to east:
Mikes Mountain, Hottest Sparrow, Dr Dick’s, Milk Jug, Canyon Lands, Caitys Corner, One Minute West, Crazy Canyons, Devils Cauldron, Nicolette’s, Shipwreck Wall, Wonderbar, and Pepper Point
Excursions to Dolphins Den to the East and Odyssey Wreck, Agilla Wreck and Spooky Channel to the west
Note on Max Depth. It is the deepest any diver would really need to go even though the bottom is often deeper.
| Garden of Eden: | Max depth 80’ |
This dive starts in a dramatic canyon that leads the divers out to a sloping plateau. As the dive continues the plateau becomes broken up by a series of coral mounds called the Mushroom Forrest. Continuing on through a swim through the divers break out into a dramatic feature we call the Grand Canyon. Up another narrow canyon to 40’to head back to the boat along the mini wall. Nurse sharks, Ocean Triggerfish and both Rainbow and Midnight Parrots are often spotted here. Safety stop on top of the reef at 20’. |
|
| Rock Star | Max depth 80’ |
The boat moors up in 15’of water and the divers start down into a canyon with a wall on one side and isolated pinnacles on the other. At 80’in the bottom the canyon is a large overhang full of many types of sponges. There are lots of small critters down here; Arrow crabs, Corkscrew Anemones with Cleaner Scrimp, and Snapping Shrimp are plentiful. Sometimes we also find pipefish here. Continue thru the canyon to a large pinnacle at the end that the divers can spiral around to then return to the boat along the wall or along the tops of the pinnacles at 40’. If there is a slight current this is a fabulous drift dive. |

| Julian’s Wall | Max depth 100’ |
This dive starts in a dramatic canyon that leads the divers out to a sloping plateau. As the dive continues the plateau becomes broken up by a series of coral mounds called the Mushroom Forrest. Continuing on through a swim through the divers break out into a dramatic feature we call the Grand Canyon. Up another narrow canyon to 40’to head back to the boat along the mini wall. Nurse sharks, Ocean Triggerfish and both Rainbow and Midnight Parrots are often spotted here. Safety stop on top of the reef at 20’. |
|
| Barrel Sponge Wall | Max depth 80’ |
The dive starts in a large sand patch where divers often find morays, conch, flounder, spotted drum and lobsters. It is just one minute out to the wall edge and a sharp drop off that goes to at least 130’. This is a very health area with many types of gorgonia corals, hard corals, sponges, colorful tropicals and pelagic fish. The only place I have seen Reef Butterfly fish the least common of the 5 butterfly species. Come back along the top of the wall at 40’or turn the dive into a drift. |
|
| Mickey’s Place | Max depth 70’ |
One of our “3 dives in one” sites the dive starts in a canyon with a white sand bottom. The canyon leads the divers out to the wall to a spot called Mickey’s point. Since this area sticks out away from the wall it catches the currents to make a great variety of fish and critters. Come back across the top of the plateau looking for morays and nurse sharks. Finish the dive by going through the reef into Mickey’s channel with walls towering 40’above. Very dramatic. Look out for sting rays, maybe a toadfish and lots of bristle worms. |
|
| Stingray Corral. | Max depth 60’ |
A bright white sand patch welcomes the divers at 40’. Around the edges are lots of corals and many types of small fish, great for photographers. Proceed to the wall about a minute away. Good combination of wall, sand bowl and reef top environments. |
|
| Moray Lagoon | Max depth 70’ |
This dive begins in a canyon environment that leads out to the wall. Often we find morays here as well as spotted drum, grouper and gray angels. If time allows at the end of the dive visit the small sand bowl in 25 feet of water and check all the little cracks for Glass eye snapper. |
|
| Magic Bobby | Max depth 80’ |
This is one of the most topographically interesting dives here. Lots of canyons, cracks, crevices, isolated coral gardens and a large crack in the reef called Mini Mary. Coming back to the boat along the 35’conture the divers can look into a series of caverns with names like Emerald cavern, Crab cavern, and Sweeper cavern. The safety stop is on top of the reef in 15’. Tons of stuff to see, look for trunk fish here. Copper Sweepers, Clinging Crabs, lobster, and maybe a turtle are often found here. |
|
| Key Hole | Max depth 100’ |
The Key Hole is a large cathedral that is carved out under the reef. The roof of this cavern is at 15’ while the floor is at 100’. Be sure to look up to see the light streaming through the cracks and holes in the ceiling. Awesome. Once the divers go through the cathedral they come out under an arch into the lagoon environment. Look for hermit crabs, sea cucumbers, and mantis scrimp. The dive returns through one of two windows back through the cathedral at about 45’ to the boat that is moored up in 30’on the edge of the wall. Great place for the safety stop. Parrot fish, angel fish, Christmas tree worms and pipefish |
|
| Kaiser’s Corner | Max depth 90’ |
This dive has a much different pattern than most wall dives. Instead of following the wall the divers go straight out to the deep. There are a series of coral bommies isolated from the main wall. This is a very healthy area since it is out away from the wall and exposed to the mild currents that bring a lot of nutrition. The divers return to the main wall by going up a slot canyon, through a window and back to the edge of the wall at 40’. Right under the boat are several small caverns and tunnels that are fun to explore. Copper sweepers, nurse shark, queen trigger fish |
